DEALING WITH NON-STOP CHANGE
Dealing with a Transition? Be sure to read William Bridges book on Managing Transitions.
As work and life become more complex, the art of managing nonstop change is becoming a necessary survival skill. William Bridges, author of Transitions, suggests a number of steps for living with constant change:
- Group and prioritize your changes
- Work hard to see the big picture and the individual changes will make more sense
- Identify what helped you through past transitions and see if you can use it in a current one
- Keep a sense of humor
- Reward yourself
- Take periodic time outs. Everyone needs a break. Don't be overcome by 'terminal professionalism'
- Do regular internal and external scans of your world. This will help you anticipate change and be better prepared when it arrives
